Cost Range for Dental Implants in Coquitlam

Dental implants have quite a significant cost range. The key reason for this is that each case is different, there are different types of dental implants, and some patients may require more implants or additional work than others.

Single Implants

Single dental implants are ideal for those who are only missing one tooth and are looking to fill the gap in their smiles.

Losing a tooth as an adult can be traumatic and whether it’s from an accident, illness or injury, many patients want to restore their smiles, even if they are only missing one tooth.

Just a single missing tooth can affect so many aspects of your life, from your confidence, your ability to chew and even your ability to speak. If you are looking to eat the foods you want worry-free and avoid hiding your teeth again, a single implant will complete your smile.

Single dental implants cost $3400 at Glen Dental Centre. However, it’s best to meet with one of our dentists to get a quote for your specific case.

Multiple Implants

Patients who are missing multiple teeth have several options when it comes to tooth replacement. Implant supported bridges are ideal for patients missing several teeth in a row, and implants can also be used individually to replace multiple missing teeth.

Our clinic has extensive experience handling more complex cases when a patient is missing multiple teeth. For the replacement of several teeth with implants the price starts at $6000. However this cost can be reduced in some cases with discounts.

Full-Mouth of Implants

Lastly, patients who are missing a full mouth of teeth may consider dental implants as an option for tooth replacement. Although it is possible to replace a full mouth of teeth with individual implants, this procedure is not very common. It is quite an extensive surgery and requires a significant recovery time.

At Glen Dental Centre in Coquitlam, we do not replace full-mouths of teeth in-house with dental implants. However we do provide implant supported full-arch restorations.

Implant Supported Full-Arch Restoration

If you are missing teeth and are looking for something more secure than dentures, implant supported full-arch restorations are an excellent option.

Also called denture over implants this procedure is much more cost effective than a full mouth of implants. It combines the stability and permanence of dental implants with the convenience of dentures. This procedure costs between $10,000 to $12,000 for a single jaw. However the majority of cases require bone grafting which can increase the overall cost.

Dentures over implants are offered based on either 2 or 4 implants and a magnetic denture attachment. Implants are placed evenly and strategically within the jaw and the denture can be secretly snapped into place on top of the implants.

This creates the appearance of a full mouth of teeth. The denture prosthesis is removable like traditional dentures, but the implants are permanently secured in your jaw.

Additional Dental Implant Cost Factors

There are some additional cost factors that can affect the overall prices of dental implants. It is important to be aware of these potential costs when assessing the total price of dental implants.

Bone Grafting

Jaw bone loss is quite common in patients who have been missing one or several teeth for over 6 months.

The old saying ‘use it or lose it’ applies here. The human body is very efficient and gets rid of what it doesn’t need. The jaw is incredibly strong and powerful, it’s built for absorbing pressure from teeth (eating and chewing.) When you are missing teeth, your jaw does not get the sufficient weight and pressure it needs to stay strong. As a result, it slowly degrades over time. In extreme cases of tooth loss, a patient's facial features can appear gaunt and frail as a result of bone loss.

In order to have implants placed, sufficient jaw bone is required to support the prosthetic tooth. The good news is that jaw bone tissue can be replaced with bone grafting. Bone grafting can cost between $500-$2000, depending on whether or not the patient also requires a sinus lift.

Permanent Crowns and Temporary Crowns

Once your dental implant is healed, crowns will be screwed into place on top of the metal implant. While you are healing your dentist may provide you with temporary crowns which will need to be replaced with permanent crowns in 2-3 months. Permanent crowns cost $1,200 -$1,400.

X-rays and Scans

At Glen Dental Centre, we have in-house CT scanning available. We also do panoramic x-rays in-office. Depending on whether or not you have dental health insurance, these may be added costs, but they are necessary to determine the extent of jaw bone loss, as well as for proper implant placement.

Are Dental Implants Worth the Cost?

Ultimately the decision is up to you as a patient, but many previous patients can confirm that dental implants significantly improve their quality of life. The benefits are outstanding

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

Dental implants are the longest lasting form of tooth replacement available. They can last for 15-20 years with proper cleaning and care.

This greatly outlasts the average lifespan of dentures (5-10 years) as well as bridges (10-15 years.) Many patients will not need replacement implants within their lifetime. Given the amount of time implants last they are an excellent long term investment in yourself and your smile.
